Harbour and Labour

The dynamism of port cities has provided opportunities for different service and industry sectors, ranging from logistics, investment and finance, hospitality, tourism to cultural and creative industries. These industries require different human resources. For port-city dwellers and sojourners, they may easily overlook the effort by those frontline workers who keep the port city running and contribute to our everyday lived experiences. This activity encourages you to observe, document, and appreciate these efforts.

How it works

1
Bring along a small sketch book (ideally one with a loose-leaf or spiral binding, postcard size or around A6 (105 x 149 mm) would be nice) and some simple stationery like pens and pencils and go to somewhere close to the harbour.
2
Do a quick sketch of the action by frontline staff who work at the waterfront areas, or those who manage the ferry service.
3
Record your thoughts and impressions on the back of the sketch.
